Quality Standards

One of our Oldham schools has been added as a case study on the Quality in Careers Standard website recently. Inspiring IAG (Positive Steps) is the licensed awarding body for this school. We have mentored and assessed this school as part of our role as a licensed provider. The award fully incorporates Gatsby Benchmarks but it also looks beyond those benchmarks.

The careers quality award is “strongly recommended” in the careers Statutory Guidance, and our Inspiring IAG service is a national licensed provider of the award so we do not just work locally.

Prompt Payment

Positive Steps has signed up to The Prompt Payment Code (PPC), a voluntary code of practice for businesses, administered by the Office of the Small Business Commissioner (SBC) on behalf of The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). It was established in December 2008 and sets standards for payment practices between organisations of any size and their suppliers.

By signing up to the code, Positive Steps has undertaken to always:

1) pay suppliers on time, within agreed terms;
2) give clear guidance to suppliers on terms, dispute resolution and prompt notification of late payment (CLICK HERE for more info)

3) support good practice throughout their supply chain by encouraging adoption of the Code.

Cliff Shields, Director of Corporate Services says: “We have a good track record of paying our suppliers on time and I feel adopting the code further demonstrates our support to suppliers during this difficult economic period."

The Prompt Payment Code has the backing of the UK Government, the British Chamber of Commerce (BCC), the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), the Forum of Private Business (FPB), The Federation of Small Business (FSB) and the institute of Directors (IoD).

Rochdale Year 11 Student Commitment

Rochdale Local Authority have said that their ambition continues to be that no year 11 student should be disadvantaged when taking their next steps after leaving school this summer. Consequently, all of the colleges and other post-16 providers in the borough are working in partnership alongside local schools and the council to ensure that the disruption caused by the Covid-19 outbreak to year 11 pupils is minimised.

Those year 11s who need advice on their options can speak to Positive Steps.
