Positive Cycles

Positive Cycles started as a community-based project delivering affordable bikes to local people. Since starting, the project has grown, encouraging more people to recycle and take up cycling.

We take old bikes, clean them up and then our groups of volunteers and young people fix them, gaining AQA qualifications in the process. The newly-refurbished bikes are then donated to local families, used in partnership with Transport for Greater Manchester or sold, with all profits being given back to the Positive Cycles project to buy equipment and parts.

The bike workshop is also used by our Youth Justice Service as part of the unpaid community work of young offenders.  The young people are involved in cleaning and fixing donated bikes and making sure they are ready to be resold.  In doing this they gain valuable experience and AQA qualifications.

If you would like to donate an old bike, or purchase a refurbished bike, please get in touch.
