Reaching Higher

This programme uses tested techniques and practices from psychology, coaching and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) to help young people to understand how their brain functions so they can manage their progress towards accessing Higher Education.

It draws upon collaborative work we have undertaken with celebrated sports psychiatrist Steve Peters, whose clients include the GB 2012 Olympic Cycling team.  The programme teaches the concept of the inner ‘Chimp’, its relation to how the teenage brain operates, and how to manage the mischievous element of the brain that can take over.  The programme teaches strategies for managing the Chimp and provides students with a sustainable model to develop and achieve success.

This intervention is funded by Greater Manchester Higher and is only accessible to cohorts who meet the relevant eligibility criteria for the National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP). See www.gmhigher.ac.uk for more information.
