Free childcare for two year olds

Eligible parents of two year old children can acess up to 15 hours per week of free early education over a minimum of 38 weeks, and up to a maximum of 570 hours within a year.

Parents can choose to send their children to a variety of settings including
• school nurseries,
• day nurseries,
• playgroups and
• approved childminders

Children can access a place the term after they reach their 2nd birthday.

Who is eligible?

Families in receipt of
• Income Support
• Support through part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act
• The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
• Child Tax Credit and have an annual income not over £16,190
• Working Tax Credits and earn £16,190 a year or less
• Universal Credit

• Child looked after by a local council
• Child with a current Child Protection Plan
• Child has a SEN or an education health and care plan
• Child is in receipt of DLA
• Child has left care under a special guardianship order, child arrangements order or adoption order
• Child has a current Child In Need plan
• Parent/family receiving Early Help
