OASIS and BROOK are working together to offer a joint integrated service providing FREE support to those with needs around substance misuse and sexual health. We are part of the wider family team which enables us to work holistically where appropriate. This includes joint working with the early help team and enables us to access specialist support when needed.

As part of our service, we recognise that further support is needed for families affected by Substance Misuse/Sexual Health Issues. Below is a list of services we offer including the referral pathways.

Sexual Health: As part of the integration, the OASIS team can offer STI/Pregnancy Testing & Condom distribution within the community. BROOK currently have a drop-in clinic available at Positive Steps every Monday – Friday 12pm – 5pm. To book an appointment to see a nurse, please follow this link.

Direct 1-2-1 Work: Each young person referred into OASIS will have a qualified Substance Intervention Worker allocated to them. A full comprehensive assessment will be completed, and care plans will include a range of interventions, tailored to meet the specific needs of the individual.

Intervention Workers are trained in the use of various techniques, including Client Centred Counselling, Solution Focused Therapy, Brief Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing & Relapse Prevention.

Please note: consent must be obtained from the young person before a referral can be accepted.

COSMO: Children of substance misusing others – We work with young children whose parents, caregivers or siblings have issues with substances. This is usually done on a 1-2-1 basis and aims to help the child to understand addiction and enable them to express emotions in a positive way. This is a short piece of work (4 to 6 Sessions) however, we offer additional support including access to counselling services and young carers sessions.

COSMO Referral

Parent Referrals: We support parents by providing knowledge & information around substances that may be affecting their child. Support is specifically around educating parents on the signs to look out for, managing behaviour and what to do in intense/risky situations. Support offered is assessed on an individual basis and onward referrals may be required which we can assist and support with.

Parent / Carer Referral

Education & Training Requests: We deliver targeted education sessions to schools, colleges, sixth forms, foster carers and partnership agencies including professionals training around Drugs & Alcohol, Sexual Health & New Trends. They can be tailored to the needs and purpose of the referrer.
