Earlier this year, we lost our dear friend and colleague, Paul Sefton, to cancer. Paul was a much-loved member of staff who will be remembered for his Friday playlists, his love of Jaffa Cakes, and his stories about his family, his dog Ruby, and his travels to Goa. He was a valued part of our organisation and the Youth Justice Team, making a lasting impact on the children and families he worked with.

To honour Paul’s memory, and others who have been affected by cancer, our Youth Justice Team took part in the Shine Night Walk for Cancer Research on the 11th of October. It was a cold, emotional, but fabulous night—far more challenging than anticipated, leaving many with sore feet and aching legs the next day. The team was joined at the starting line by Paul’s wife, Diane, who wished them well as they began their journey.

With a fundraising target of £800, the team raised an incredible £2555.88, far exceeding expectations. A standout contribution came from Sarah, who went above and beyond by completing the Manchester Half Marathon and added her fundraising to the team’s total. The Youth Justice Team also held a successful bake sale, while Halimey used her creativity to craft beautiful handmade lip balm pouches, further boosting the fundraising efforts.

We would also like to thank everyone who donated, sent messages of good luck, and supported the team along the way. Your generosity and support are helping to honour Paul’s memory and contribute to the work of Cancer Research UK.
