‘Empower Oldham’ and ‘Engaging Rochdale’ are new projects aimed at connecting with young people who are currently Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET). The tailored provision will include mentoring, wellbeing support and practical solutions, to build confidence, resilience and motivation. Support will be creative and will focus on removing barriers and learning new skills, helping young people on their journey towards learning and employment.
We can work with young people aged 16-19 (or up to age 25 if care experienced or with an EHCP). Young people aged 15+ who are at significant risk of becoming NEET may also eligible for support.
If you are working with someone who would benefit from this support, please follow the link to complete the referral. Places are limited, so referrals will be assessed for suitability before being accepted. If you would like to talk through a referral before submitting, please get in touch. If you are a young person or parent/carer and would be interested in this project, please contact us on ukspf@positive-steps.org.uk or 0161 621 9400.

I’m so glad my son was involved in your service
I’d just like to say you and your service have been brilliant for my son. The support you offer to our young people of Oldham is amazing!!! Your approach and commitment to L has been outstanding. Consistently checking in with him via messages. You have helped him to achieve his CSCS card, this wouldn’t have been possible without you or your service. He is now able to actively look for work on a building site. This has massively helped his self esteem. I’m so glad my son was involved in your service.
Now I'm in college and about to get a job thanks to you all.
Empower Oldham has been very helpful in terms of school and work. I was new in country and didn’t understand how to go about everything, but you guys helped me navigate through it all. Now I’m in college and about to get a job thanks to you all.
I have come out of my shell and feel more confident
I have come out of my shell and feel more confident talking to new people. I wouldn’t have been ready to start college and would not have even applied to college without my key worker
my youth worker was great
Empower Oldham really helped me with my Maths and English, my youth worker was great she helped me secure my apprenticeship and went out of her way making sure all targets were met
their job is a passion and not just a job for them.
There are no words that can describe the support that has been given. You can see the difference in the support that their job is a passion and not just a job for them. I couldn’t have done this by myself I feel if I had I would have failed.
It’s really important to us that we capture the views of your young people and take them into account when developing our support program.
Please use the below survey link to answer a few short questions and give you an opportunity to let us know what you really think of the support you have received.
