Positive Cycles began as a community-driven initiative to provide affordable bikes to local people, and it has flourished into a vibrant project that inspires recycling and promotes cycling.
We take old, unused bikes and give them a new lease on life. Our dedicated teams of volunteers and young people work together to refurbish these bikes, learning valuable skills and earning AQA qualifications in the process. The restored bikes are then:
- Donated to local families in need,
- Used in partnership with Transport for Greater Manchester,
- Or sold, with all proceeds reinvested into the Positive Cycles project to purchase equipment and parts.
Our workshop also collaborates with the Youth Justice Service, offering young offenders the chance to complete unpaid community work. Through cleaning and repairing donated bikes, they gain hands-on experience, build confidence, and earn AQA qualifications, all while contributing to a meaningful cause.
