Our Positive Futures department believe in helping young people find their passion and potential, no matter the challenges they face. We continue our #PositiveStories with Corey’s story – a young person, who with the right support and environment, turned a difficult situation into a remarkable achievement.
When Corey first came to Positive Futures Alternative Provision, mainstream education wasn’t working for him, and his attendance was inconsistent – this meant finding a new approach. Positive Futures made the decision to move his sessions outdoors at Northern Roots, where with a focus on hands on learning he discovered a love and talent for outdoor work. His attendance and commitment improved dramatically, and he soon earned paid weekend work assisting with events.
Through a collaboration between Northern Roots and Willmott Dixon, Corey secured a two-week placement with Wrights Landscaping. His dedication landed him a full-time job with them at Media City on the ground’s maintenance team.
