Giving Back – Our Restorative Offer for young people

General

Our Youth Justice Service (YJS) , run a ‘Giving Back’ project as part of the Restorative Justice Offer. This gives clients the opportunity to repair any harm through taking ownership and giving back to the community to help them on a better path. Every year we collaborate with the Street Angels over Easter to make this happen by spreading a little joy to the homeless and those in need through Easter eggs.

Street Angels is a charity operating in Oldham that supports the homeless community by giving them a place to have warm food and beverages for a few hours every Wednesday and Sunday. We have been working with them for years providing gift bags over different periods to be handed to their service users.

This time round the children working with our YJS decorated the bags, filling them with chocolates and either a pair of socks, gloves or a hat as you can see from the photo (see below).

The child in the photo helped (Josh Sayers, Restorative Justice Coordinator) bring all the bags over to the street Angels. The Street Angels were over the moon with the bags, one of the volunteers said “ This is really lovely and should be proud of the work the children put into the bags”

We will continue to work closely with the Street Angels even having the opportunity to now support their team during their opening hours on Wednesdays.
