Young Carers Engage in Wellness and Special Activities!

General

Recently, our young carers have been busy with activities to support their well-being and provide much-needed fun!

They took part in an informative stress awareness workshop that focused on how stress affects the body. During the session, they learnt about the physical and mental effects of stress, as well as practical stress management measures. At the end of the session, everyone got a handy tips sheet, full of advice on how to deal with stress, so they could take those strategies with them and utilise them in their everyday life.

As part of National Smile Month, we distributed free toothpaste, toothbrushes, timers, and information on maintaining a healthy smile. This intended to encourage young carers to practise excellent oral hygiene practices, as well as provide them with the materials they need to keep their smiles healthy!

During half-term, the young carers enjoyed a special cinema trip! The primary group saw “Garfield,” and the secondary group saw “Planet of the Apes” at the Odeon Cinema. A total of 30 young people took part in this fun trip!  This trip was well-deserved and gave them a chance to unwind with friends.

These activities not only provided educational advantages, but also gave enjoyment and relaxation to our young carers, emphasising the necessity of balancing well-being with leisure.
